Duncan Keith on Playing Canucks

Duncan Keith talks to Hawks TV about playing the Canucks and going back to BC.

There Will Be Blood... PART 2

Tomorrow night the Blackhawks and the Canucks meet again in what is sure to be an anger/revenge filled series!

Brooks Laich: What a Stand Up Guy

As if girls needed another reason to love Brooks Laich! As most people know, the Capitals lost in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup quarterfinals to the Montreal Canadiens. The boys left the locker room angry and sad yet Brooks Laich still stopped to help a fan change her tire.
Brooks doesn't see the big deal about it but when you're gorgeous and a hockey player any little thing you do is a big deal, especially after a loss like that. Brooks own words were 'Just because my day sucked didn't mean I couldn't help someone'. For full story from the Washington Post click HERE.

Happy Birthday Tazer!!

Very Happy Birthday to Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews who turns 22 today!!!

Part 2

Seed of doubt planted...

Oh how the mighty have fallen. With the exception of Brooks Laich (because in my eyes that man can do no wrong) the rest of the Washington Capitals find themselves in an odd predicament...my bad side. After the beyond amazing season they had, their run at Lord Stanley was cut short by the 8th seeded Montreal Canadiens...8th seeded!!! Un-fucking-believable. With the arsenal of weapons the Caps had all season, NO ONE showed up to play. Their power play went to shit, along with most of the big boys on the team. As a captain Ovechkin was nowhere to be found, the team just seemed to fall apart.

Now I'm not taking one red cent away from Montreal, they came together to rally from being down 3 games to 1 and proved to be a serious contender for the cup. Halak, MVP of the playoffs as of right now...131 saves in the last 3 games...hello?!?! That is fantastic. Brodeur who?!?!

One more question begs to be asked...how will this affect the Caps next season? After a meltdown of epic proportions, how can they bounce back? In the end there's only one way to describe the ending to the Capitals season...sucky.

Playoffs Recap: Day 14

A disappointing end to a disappointing series. Who would have thought the Washington Capitals, the unstoppable force of the regular season, would lose in the first round? I'm not even going to go into details except that the Habs took it with a 2-1 win with goals by Bergeron and Moore for the Habs and Laich for the Caps.
The playoffs continue tomorrow where the Sharks and the Red Wings start their semifinal series in San Jose.

Playoffs Recap: Day 13

The Red Wings know how to close out a series because their game last night was AMAZING. With a 6-1 sweep, Datsyuk with two goals less than two minutes from each other in the first, the Wings are moving on to play the Sharks in the semifinals.

Playoffs Recap: Day 12

Extremely proud of the Hawks and Bruins! Both closed out their series and our moving on to the semifinals!
The Hawks did most of their scoring in the first period with goals from Keith, Kane, Sharp and Toews and in the last seconds of the game Madden tossed one into an empty net. The Hawks will now move on to playing the Sedin twins and the Canucks!!
The Bruins also closed out their series against the Sabres at home in Boston. David Krejci was #1 star with two goals scored against Ryan Miller. It is still unclear which team the Bruins will play in the semifinals.
Last and CERTAINLY LEAST we have the Caps/Habs game. As it looks right now I can tell you the Capitals don't look like they're going to the finals. Maybe they're tired or maybe they just got too cocky but this is not the same team that dominated the regular season. The Caps scored just one goal in last night's game to the Canadiens' four. The Capitals return to DC for game 7.

Playoffs Recap: Day 12

The Red Wings chose the wrong day to not show up to play. In a game they could have closed the series out with they lagged behind and the Coyotes beat them in a 5-2 game. The two teams will head back to Phoenix for game 7.
The Canucks on the other hand played a great game , Daniel Sedin tying the game late in the third and Alexandre Burrows came in a minute later to break the tie and win the game. The Canucks in the semifinals will play the winner from the Blackhawks/Predators series.

Playoffs Recap: Day 11

What a great day in hockey! 2 series were closed out and the Hawks tied their series!
How about that last second goal by Kaner? And then there was that OT goal by Hossa just a second after he was out of the box! The Hawks return to Nashville tomorrow for game 5 of their series.
The Sharks closed out their series with the help of Joe Pavelski who netted two goals and beat the Avalanche 5-2. The Sharks will come back to the semifinal series and play whoever wins out of the Red Wings/Coyotes series.
The Penguins and Senators sure do know how to get plays reviewed. Including game 5 they had a total of 6 goal reviews, some working in favor and some not. I'll tell you, that situation room in Toronto sure was busy. The Penguins were able to come back from a 2-0 deficit, tie the game and then take it in overtime with a goal from Pascal Dupuis.Pascal Dupuis was the official #1 star but I give it to Matt Cooke for his two goals and because he's missing like 8 teeth and can rock it. The Penguins will rest now until the Canadien/Capitals series ends.

Today the Red Wings hope to close out their series against the Coyotes as do the Canucks against the Kings.

Playoffs Recap: Day 9

What a day of hockey. The Flyers became the first team to win a quarterfinal series and the Penguins went into TRIPLE OT with the Senators. I wish I could say I felt bad for the Devils but I don't. They just fell apart at the worst possible time. If you don't bring your A game you're gonna lose it and lose it they did, in a shutout game mind you.
The Penguins and Senators game was great and entertaining but good god did that think take forever. The Pens weren't able to win despite a series 3-1 lead. Hopefully tonight they'll end their series in Ottawa.
The Hawks put on a great show and Niemi got his second shutout of the playoffs. Sharpie put in two goals and Tazer one :), the Predators? ZERO. Could it be that Soupy was back or perhaps the Hawks just realized two more losses and they were out. Either way they won making me a very happy girl.
I'd be lying if I was interested in the Sharks/Avalanche series but they still deserve some blog time. The Sharks had their first shutout of the playoffs and pretty much raped the Avalanche with a 5-0 win.
