Playoffs Recap: Day 6

What a night! Sporting my Bruins shirt I watched the exciting match up with the Sabres. The Bruins started their physical play in game 2 and it definitely seems to be working for them. The Sabres fell in a 2-1 game.
The Kings came back at the Canucks breaking the series tie and now leading 2-1.
But the big story though was the Capitals annihilating win over the Canadiens. 5-1.. 5 TO 1! Four of which were scored in the second period by Knuble, Laich, Fehr and Ovechkin and Bradley in the third. Ovechkin had the best goal of the night with a lightning fast one-timer. It also gets the 'OH MY GOD HOW ADORABLE' award for Nick Backstrom's reaction to it.
Here's the video:

Why are hockey players so darn cute? Ovi looks like a kid on that ice!
Be sure to watch tonight as the Blackhawks take on the Predators in Nashville and Pittsburgh continue their take on the Senators!

Playoffs Recap: Day 2

Another disappointing day. The Habs beat the Caps in overtime putting a game one win under their belt. Maybe if Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin would have actually shown up to the game the Caps could have taken it but the two seemed to lollygag up and down the ice, missing shots and over-skating the puck.
The Bruins fell to the Sabres, no shocker there and the Canucks were able to put down the Kings in OT. When you have twins on your team you are bound for great things!

Steven Stamkos Gets 50!!!!

Last night it was Alex Ovechkin who got 50 and tonight Steven Stamkos has done it minutes ago scoring his second goal of the game against the Florida Panthers!!!

OVECHKIN GETS 50!

Alex Ovechkin has beat Sidney Crosby to the 50 goal mark scoring minutes ago against the Thrashers!!!!

Brooksy is Back!

Looks like Brooksy was all the Caps needed to get back in their game. With Brooks on the ice, behind a cage of course, the Caps beat the Thrashers 2-1 Thursday night at home with goals from Nicklas Backstrom and Matt Bradley.
No score from Ovechkin in this game. Ovi better pick it up because Steven Stamkos has tied him and both have the second most goals in the NHL behind Sidney Crosby's 47.Weird considering the Lightning are doing even worse than the Panthers. Must be pretty frustrating for Stamkos.
Tickets for playoff games are already on sale! Be sure to visit the Capitals website for more information.
Tonight I will be at the Rangers @ Panthers game so news on that tomorrow. Hopefully the Cats can reciprocate what they did with the Bruins and win again.

No Go For The Pens

Although they put up a good fight tonight the Penguins could not defeat the Capitals. The first goal of the night was scored by Mike Knuble of the Capitals with an assist from Alex Ovechkin and Nicholas Backstrom. Max Talbot tied up the game with assists from Brooks Orpik and Craig Adams followed by another Pens goal by Bill Guerin assisted by Sidney Crosby and Alexei Ponikarovsky. There was a possiblity that it would be smooth sailing after that for the Pens but the Caps would never let that happen.
Semin and Fehr each scored goals in the third, the Caps pulling ahead, but Jordan Staal smacked one in to tie the game. There was no score in overtime and thus the shootout began. Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby put their pucks into the net but Bill Guerin missed his. Although Backstrom missed his goal Ovechkin and Semin didn't, forcing the shootout to go on to another turn. Kunitz failed to make anything of his goal and then came along Mike Knuble (who by the way has NEVER scored a shootout goal) to win the game for the Caps.
Shame shame. We thought maybe the Penguins were going to show up the Caps but no such luck.
The Capitals will be in Carolina tomorrow for a game against the Canes and the Pens are on break until Saturday when they take on Chris Pronger and the Flyers at Mellon Arena.

Well that's all for tonight folks. See you tomorrow for more hockey blah blah BLAH.

Video of the Day: Craig Adams Dirty Hit on Alex Ovechkin

No Ovechkin, No Problem

Who said the Capitals need Ovechkin to win? I definitely didn't. Although I LOVE the Russian bad boy I must admit that his team killed the Florida Panthers tonight in a 7-3 game. I love my home team but the Panthers got raped tonight and they deserved it. They were lazy and slow tonight and made absolutely no impression on me while the Caps totally shined.
Kudos to #1 star of the night Brooks Laich who scored 2 goals.
As great as the game was though it would have been even better to have had Ovechkin there. There will always be a next time though.
Enjoy super UP CLOSE photos of the Capitals during their warm-up.

UGHHHH! WHY?!

It's amazing how one stupid survey at work sends the entire facility into a frenzy! Sorry for non-updatingness but it ends now.

Let's talk about important things now like Ovi getting suspended for two games... :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( x infinity!
Tomorrow I am going to the Panthers vs. Capitals game and I was super excited about seeing Ovechkin play but alas he has been suspended for a dumb little hit. (Ok maybe it wasn't little but why couldn't they at least wait until after they played the Panthers?!). I could go on forever but I'll cut the Ovechkin rant here.

In other news:
Geno Malkin's foot is OK! After getting hit by his own teammate Kris Letang at their game against the Lightning Malkin left the game with hopes of his foot not being broken and it wasn't. Snap snaps for Malkin and the Pens!

I was supposed to post about Cory Stillman's shootout goal against the Wild immediately after the game but I got tied up so here is your shout out Cory! Kudos to him for scoring the game-tie goal and game winning goal!

Sidney Crosby... Well there really isn't anything new to say about him so I'll just go with the usual: Sidney Crosby is perfect in every single possible way :). Keep it perfect Sid <3.

Hockey Players and their ink... Part Uno

It didn't surprise me when I found out a lot of these NHL players are seriously inked. Some keep their tattoos well hidden but others have no problem showing them off.
Max Talbot: Pittsburgh Penguins Center
Sheild with wings with a ginormous 'T' in the center.

Ryan Malone: Tampa Bay Lightening Left Wing
Japanese Dragon, Koi fish, family shield, hornet, sons birthday. (Probably has more but this is all I can crank out right now)Joe Corvo: Washington Capitals Defenseman
Two stars, a couple tribals, Stanley Cup.

Video of the Day: Caps Q&A - Ladies Man

The Capitals are asked which team member is the biggest ladies man. Ovechkin has it all figured out...
